Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML)
The Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) is an institute of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University. The main area of work is research and education in the multidisciplinary field of environmental sciences.
The Institute is directed by Prof. dr. A. Tukker.
- Environmental Biology (CML-EB), dealing with understanding interactions between anthropogenic pressures, biodiversity and natural resources;
- Industrial Ecology (CML-IE), dealing with research into the development of tools for decision making on sustainable production and consumption.
In 2019, the tenured and non-tenured staff consisted of about 68 fte including 9 fte supporting staff. The interdisciplinary character is reflected in the various staff members backgrounds, such as: ecologists, chemical engineers, agricultural engineers, physicists etc.
